Photo Nation Magazine is Born in Film’s community publication, featuring photographs and the people, experiences, and ideas behind them.
It gives photographers a space to share their work and readers a chance to see the world through someone else’s eyes. Through featured stories and community selections, we celebrate different perspectives and encourage people to keep learning and creating.
At its heart is our belief that photography is for everyone. Whether you’re just starting out or have been shooting for years, your work deserves a chance to be seen and your story to be heard.
This month’s Photo Nation Magazine theme, “Everyday Wonders,” invites us to look closer at familiar places and ordinary moments. From sunlight on a kitchen wall to a quiet exchange on a busy street, we explore how photography helps us notice the stories we often walk past.

A MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER
When I started Born in Film in 2018, I hoped to build a community where people could share their love for photography and help each other grow. I’ve since met so many people who have given their time, trusted us with their work, and become friends. They’ve given me more reasons to keep going than I could have imagined.
I’ve been taking photographs since I was ten, and I still get excited when I see something that makes me want to pick up a camera. I want more people to experience that feeling. The curiosity. The joy of making something. The moment you realize that a photograph you took means something to someone else.
That’s why I’ve always believed photography is for everyone. You don’t have to wait until you’re better or until you can afford another camera. You can begin with what you have, right where you are.
Today, Born in Film is a nonprofit organization rooted in photography, with room for stories told through film, illustration, design, and writing. We want to help people learn, give them opportunities to share their work, and bring them closer to others who care about creating.
My hope is that being here gives you the courage to try. To submit that photograph you’ve been keeping to yourself. To ask a question. To explore an idea you haven’t quite figured out. Or to return to something you love after a long time away.
I know how much courage it can take to start over. I also know how much it helps when someone believes in you while you’re still finding your way. That’s the kind of community I hope we can continue to build together.
To everyone who has helped Born in Film grow, thank you. So much of what we’ve done began with someone simply saying, “I can help.”
And if you’re joining us for the first time, welcome. I hope you find something here that makes you want to create, and people who encourage you to keep at it.
