Albert Garcia

Alberto Garcia is an award-winning photojournalist with over four decades of experience in editorial, documentary and sports photography. He began his career in 1976 as photo librarian for the Manila Bulletin and rose to prominence as chief photographer for Tempo at the same time contributing photo to global publications like Time Magazine and Newsweek. In 1992, Garcia became the first Filipino photojournalist to win the prestigious World Press Photo competition for his image of Mt. Pinatubo eruption on June 15, 1991, later featured in National Geographic's "100 Best Pictures" and Time Magazine's "Great Images of the Century." He served as photo editor for the Manila Times and Manila Bulletin until relocating to Alberta, Canada in 2008. Today, he continues to pursue his passion through editorial photography for Alberta Chronicle while also doing corporate headshots and documentary photography.
